New York state is the nation's second-largest wine producer by volume and has about 30,000 acres of vineyards and over 200 wineries. The bay and other bodies of water in the area provide the perfect climate and warm air favorable for Merlots and Chardonnays.

Within a couple of hours drive north of New York City is the Hudson Valley region. The Hudson Valley region has the ideal temperature and an abundant supply of fresh water from the Hudson River to grow excellent wine grapes. The valley is home for some of the oldest vineyards and wineries in the nation. The Hudson Valley region is conducive for growing European grapes such as Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc.

Visiting NY vineyards is the ideal weekend getaway or day trip away from the hustle and bustle of New York City.
